Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee provides strategic leadership and institutional oversight for sustainability initiatives at Grand Asian University, Sialkot (GAUS). It ensures that sustainability is integrated into the University's governance, academic activities, campus operations, research, and community engagement.

Overview

The Sustainability Committee is responsible for developing sustainability policies, coordinating institutional initiatives, monitoring progress, and promoting continuous improvement. The Committee works collaboratively with academic and administrative departments to achieve the University's sustainability goals and support international sustainability standards.

The Sustainability Committee promotes transparency, accountability, and innovation while supporting the University's mission to create a sustainable campus and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Terms of Reference (ToRs)

The Sustainability Committee shall serve as the University's principal body for coordinating, monitoring, and advancing sustainability initiatives. The Committee shall perform the following functions:

Formulate and oversee the implementation of the University's sustainability strategy, objectives, and action plans.

Coordinate the collection, verification, and submission of institutional sustainability data for national and international sustainability assessments, including the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

Promote the integration of sustainability principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academic programmes, research, governance, campus operations, and community engagement.

Develop, review, and recommend sustainability-related policies, guidelines, and institutional frameworks to support continuous improvement.

Monitor institutional sustainability performance through established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and recommend appropriate improvement measures.

Plan and promote sustainability awareness campaigns, capacity-building programmes, workshops, student engagement initiatives, and community outreach activities.

Facilitate coordination and collaboration among academic faculties, administrative departments, and other University units to ensure the effective implementation of sustainability initiatives.

Review and endorse the University's Annual Sustainability Report and other sustainability-related publications prior to submission to the Competent Authority.
